So far I've been to seven different anime conventions - all 5 of the New England cons (6 after Providence in the fall), Otakon, AnimeNEXT, and Anime Central. But there are so many more that I want to attend. If I had the money and vacation time, I would love to attend more and more conventions. So far the conventions I want to attend are:

- Dragon*Con
- Anime Weekend Atlanta
- A-kon
- Anime Expo
- MetroCon
- Sakura Con
- Kawaii Con

Those are good sized cons, but I'd also like to go somewhere far off from Massachusetts to attend something small, like 500-1000 people.

What cons do you guys want to attend, but haven't been to yet?

I'd really like to check out Dragon*Con and San Diego Comic Con one of these days. ...and PAX. I'm actually surprised I haven't flown to Chicago (since flying from Boston is rather painless) for ACen at least once. Maybe someday.

Kawaii Kon seems like a good excuse to visit Hawaii.

I'd like to check out a con or two in Europe someday too. Maybe one in a country that doesn't speak English.

I've always wanted to go to:

San Diego Comic Con
Anime Expo
KawaiiCon (Just to say that I've been to Hawaii)
Anime Central
A-Kon (Although, that may be leaning downhill)

I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting.

BTW: Pat, you'd *Love* Dragon*Con. It's insane. Just don't mind the corset boobies.

Mine is a similar list: AB, ACen, AWA, AX, ComicCon, KawaiiCon, SakuraCon. I would like to return to Otakon as I had a blast the one time I went.

ACEN is definitely worth the trip to see how they run the convention. They organize their event in some interesting ways, using multiple sites, that works really well.

I also love the San Diego Comic Con. It was my first convention of sorts, though I feel like its very different than an anime convention because the focus isn't on Asian culture. A lot of fun though and all sorts of great guests!

I'd say to visit a convention that's also in a city you'd like to see anyway, though many of the smaller ones aren't really in places famous for tourism.

Some of the smaller conventions I've been to or a part of that I've enjoyed are:

Anime Oasis (Boise, ID) - This is a con that caps attendance off at around 650 because the venue can't hold anymore. They sell out every year. It's very intimate and you have a lot of face time with guests...as well as learn to get to know everyone that is there! It's a 4 day con.

Pacific Media Expo/PMX (Los Angeles, CA) - I thought this event was going to be huge because of numbers they posted and the high level music guests that they bring in every year, but attendance was less than 1,000. Their main focus isn't on anime, it is on the other aspects of Asian culture like music and fashion. They usually have 5-6 bands playing or more, exclusive fashion shows with designers from Japan, and attract a heavy industry-related crowd.

Persacon (Huntsville, AL) - This convention had around 500 or so. You can tell that the core fanbase has been with the event since the beginning, since they have many events/panels/activities that have built on previous years but some are pretty interesting (like "Project Cosplay" and a full theatre production of a custom script they wrote). It's like a large convention with all of the programming but still with an intimate vibe.

I had a great time at ACen last year. I wasn't able to make this year's con, but I want to try and do next year's. I would also eventually like to be able to get to:

AnimeNorth
Anime Expo
Comiket
TAF

Since the last two are in Japan, it will probably be a long, long time before I get to them, but I keep hoping and saving.

DRAGON*CON!! (One of these days it will happen. Maybe 2010.)

Also AX. Just to get a chance to see it once. Think it would be an adventure.

DragonCon was awesome this year, BTW, for everybody who was wanting to attend. Much better than it has been in the last few years (and not just cause I work for them...)

I would like to go to some on the West Coast, myself, specifically PAX (because I'm a gamer) and SakuraCon and Fanime (I think that both have FANTASTIC attention to aesthetics on public documents, flyers, websites and the like, and the marketer in me just loves that).

I would love to hit up any anime convention out of my state of Texas, really. Specific ones include:

Anime Expo
Anime Weekend Atlanta
Otakon
Youmacon
Ohayocon
Anime Central
FanimeCon

...yeah, those are the biggest ones.

Always wanted to see how each region differs with there own respective con scene so: KawaiiCon, A-Kon, Anime Boston, and AX.

Then there's GenCon. RPG & Card gaming-centric con where there's even a handful of Shadownrun cosplayers...awesome.

I wanted to go back to Comiket or Tokyo Anime Festival but the plane tickets were too expensive to the tune of $2,000.

Yet a round trip non stop ticket from London to Boston on American was only $475.00

Last time the same ticket cost me $900.00 and Tickets to Tokyo were 650.00?!?!?!

Airline prices and fares work in strange ways.
