October 31, 2008 - Atlanta, Georgia - Anime Weekend Atlanta is pleased to announce the attendee count for its 14th annual convention. AWA had 11,101 paid attendees, a 12% increase from the previous year. This number does not include guests, dealers, staff or complimentary memberships.

AWA 14 introduced new events such at the Maid Café and the SuperHappyFunSell swap meet, while presenting traditional ones such as The Black-&-White Ball, the highly popular costume contest, and anime music video competitions, along with musical performances by j-music bands Tsu Shi Na Mi Re, The Captains, and The Emeralds.

Attendees met first time guests Illich Guardiola (Vexille, Appleseed Ex Machina), Camilla d'Errico (Burn, Avril Lavigne's Make 5 Wishes), and Jennie Breeden (The Devil's Panties), as well as returning actors Peter Fernandez and Corinne Orr (Speed Racer, Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers), Vic Mignona (Ouran High School Host Club), Travis Willingham (Full Metal Alchemist), Monica Rial (Burst Angel), Rikki Simons (Invader Zim), Amy Howard-Wilson (Star Blazers), and other guests. In addition, congoers were treated to premiere screenings of "Ouran High School Host Club" from Funimation and "Sword of the Stranger" from Bandai Entertainment, both of which featured new English dubs.

Anime Weekend Atlanta would like to thank all companies, staff, guests, and attendees for their support in making this year's event the biggest and most successful one to date.

Anime Weekend Atlanta will celebrate its 15th convention on September 18-20, 2009 at The Renaissance Waverly Hotel and the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, GA.
